Hello,
I had just finish with the greek letters this morning
as a new problem was surging.
A spss sav file received from Moscow!
With stattransfer9
i can transform the spss table into a .sas7bdat and a format.sas for the
formats applied to variables
but in both files there are russian letters in the .sas7bdat a character
variable is quite illisible as the russian character
are appearing translated(?)
I tried opening the format.sas (a kind of text file) in Word
and oh surprise the characters are transformed in cyrillic where it was
necessary
further i tried to save the file in txt
and the only manner to not to loose the cyrillic was to save in txt with
utf8 encoding
in a 'normal editor' this value appear as
value LABK
21 = 'ÃÃÃÃ'
22 = 'ÃÃ ÃÃÃ'
23 = 'ÃÃ ÃÃ'
24 = 'ÃÃÃ ÃÃ'
96 = 'NO ANSWER'
97 = 'ÃÃÃÃÃÃÃÃÃÃÃ ÃÃÃÃ ÃÃÃÃ' ;
but in ultraedit 14 applying the page code regulation 65001 utf8 i can
copy this
appearance of correct cyrillic letters even if i am not sure they would
arrive to you as
the enhanced editor show
has anybody idea of how pursuit my translate/transform work with goal
the most rich sas dataset
in 9.1.3 (i don't have 9.2 yet).
even with the use of options dflang='russian';
Perhaps may Sas not go over
as i have myself showed upon the greek topic how foreigner letter are to
be displayed?
i must perhaps remain with a sasdataset without format
and a word document on paper!
In the mean time, i start reading a text of Stephan Beatrous who may
give me idea.
TIA
Andre
