Cherish,
You can request for a free copy of my Notebook Light. Its built-in Code
Editor is ready to use -- no complex configuration required just for syntax
highlighting. You can easily submit your code/program for processing by the
local SAS server. Batch processing? -- no problem!
It opens SAS log files in color, too, plus you get IntelliSense and a nice
code indenter, which you can't find anywhere.
If you want to boost your productivity, this is the right tool to own. I
don't believe anyone is too old to be learning new tricks!
And in case you didn't know, this tool has the "thumbs up" from Paul Kent,
Vice President, Platform Research and Development (based from an e-mail I
received from him last year).

Hi Dan,
Thanks for the reply. I too use Textpad but I don't know how
to how to set it up so that it can highlight for the SAS
syntax. How to configure it for the SAS extension syntax.
Thanks
Cherish
Cherish,
Here are some instructions that I provided to a co-worker about setting up
The process of setting up Textpad to do SAS syntax highlighting is not too
difficult. It will be similar to, but not exactly like, the SAS program
editor syntax coloring. I am assuming that you want to set up Textpad on
your local machine.
1. The file, sas3.syn needs to be copied to the C:\Program
Files\Textpad4\system subdirectory. You can get the file here
http://www.textpad.com/add-ons/files/syntax/sas3.zip (There are a couple
other syntax files on the Textpad site; this is the one I use).
2. Open Textpad and click on Configure->New document class. This will
open a document class "wizard".
3. Give the new class the name, SAS, and click next
4. enter *.sas for the class member and click next
5. check the box "enable syntax highlighting" and choose sas3.syn from
the drop-down list for the syntax definition file, then click next.
6. click finish
Hope this is helpful,
Dan
